Top Upcomng Open World Video Games Of 2019

Crackdown 3

The third installment to the Crackdown franchise was first announced to the masses in 2014. Since then, we’ve been waiting for the game to finally release into the market. Now that the game is confirmed to launch in 2019, we’re slowly coming to the final stretch before we can pick our very own copy up from store shelves.
Within Crackdown 3, the narrative will take place ten years after the events of Crackdown 2. A new terrorist organization has shaken things up again as they killed off the power for the entire world. Now players will have to explore and hunt down the terrorist group while stepping into the shoes of a member within the agency.

This is an action-adventure sandbox title where players can cause massive destruction across the city structures as they take on the terrorists or duke it out with online multiplayer game modes.
Tom Clancy’s: The Division 2
·         Developer: Massive Entertainment
·         Publisher: Ubisoft
·         Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
·         Release: March 15, 2019
This upcoming installment to The Division is slated to follow the events of the first title. The Division 2 takes place just a few months shy from a full year after the first title where there is a new primal enemy focus. As The United States of America begins to get back on their feet from the viral outbreak that plagued the first installment, the government has started to unleash harsh laws.
Innocent civilians are being slaughtered leaving daily life to be a difficult struggle. Players will be taking on the role of an agent within The Division as they start a new civil war. The game was announced during E3 2018 so we’re still waiting on some of the finer details for the game. However, the developers will apparently offer a much bigger open world experience. Instead of the enclosed feeling of the city streets that flooded the first game, The Division 2 will feature large open spaces as you explore and complete missions.

Anthem

o    Developer: BioWare
o    Publisher: Electronic Arts
o    Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
o    Release: March 2019

Anthem, the upcoming video game IP from BioWare, was originally slated to launch in 2018. However, that quickly changed when the game was ultimately pushed back for a 2019 release. This is a science fiction style RPG where humanity has begun to colonize other planets. However, within these planets are harsh environments and creatures.
Players will take on the role of a Freelancer, an elite task force member that can explore the open world. However, in order to do so, Freelancer’s will require the use of a Javelin. These are specialized suits that are capable of traversing the world at great speeds along with combat-equipped weapons to fight against any hostile creatures that you may come across.
However, you don’t have to explore and fight off the various monsters by yourself. BioWare is developing Anthem to be a cooperative gameplay experience where up to four players can work together.
Rage 2

·         Developer: Avalanche Studios, id Software
·         Publishers: Bethesda Softworks
·         Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
·         Release: 2019

Rage is back with a brand new installment. Rage 2 will toss players into the role of Walker who is the last ranger. It’s your job to survive in this dangerous world after mutants flooded the world thanks to an otherworldly asteroid struck the surface. We also know that thirty years have passed since the events of the first Rage so you can expect to see a few familiar characters.
This is still a brutal FPS with an open world for players to explore, though information is still a bit scarce on the title. However, in past interviews about the game, Tim Willits, id Software a co-developer working on Rage 2, has stated that the developers are revamping the overall game with a better overall story, vehicles, characters and of course weapons.
One of the issues that Rage dealt with was not being a real open world video game. Instead, the title loaded into different sections of the game which is something that were being worked on for this upcoming sequel. Players can expect a real open world experience where everything is available with missions also being more open and less of a linear gameplay experience. Of course we have only seen a small portion of the game so far but it looks like the engine and development team working on Rage 2 is seeking a true open world experience for players.

The Surge 2
·         Developer: Deck13 Interactive
·         Publisher: Focus Home Interactive
·         Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
·         Release: 2019
Deck 13 Interactive is releasing a sequel to their The Surge franchise that came out back in 2017. The video game was an action role-playing hit as the game was set in the future where most of the world’s resources had been consumed. Humanity has begun to use augmentations, mixing flesh with metal advancements to help them in their daily activities.
Players can expect the sequel to follow the events of the first title though they will be going through the game as a new protagonist. While we don’t know too much about the game yet, we do know that the setting will be taking place in a city and that levels will be a more open world. While the game is not a totally open world, developers are making the levels more open for exploration.

Biomutant
·         Developer: Experiment 101
·         Publisher: THQ Nordic
·         Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
·         Release: 2019
In Biomutant, players take the role of a raccoon-like creature that must save the world. With a poisonous oil springing up from the ground, most the world is quickly infected and dying off. This also has spread to the Tree of Life, a giant tree that brings life to the whole world.
Players must go to each of the six roots of the Tree of Life and stop the oil and defeat each boss. Furthermore, the game will be tossing players a number of decisions that will affect the overall narrative storyline. Likewise, the choices you make will ultimately alter the world itself. Developers have stated that the entire world is open for players to explore with only sections blocked, forcing players to progress the narrative in order to gather the items required to access past unreachable areas.
We’re not sure just yet how large of an open world Biomutant is nor do we have details on how much of the open world is available at the start without progressing through the narrative. Originally the game was set to release in 2018 but has since been pushed back until summer of 2019.

Judge Eyes
·         Developer: Sega
·         Publisher: Sega
·         Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
·         Release: 2019

Sega has been teasing a new IP for a while now stating that the developers who were behind the popular Yakuza series have been working on a brand new IP. This project has apparently been in the works for over three years but we’re only just now getting a look at the game. Gamers can expect Judge Eyes to release next year.
There are still plenty of details that Sega is holding away from the public at the moment but during a PlayStation Lineup Tour event, Sega unveiled Judge Eyes. The game follows a lawyer who is seeking out clues in order to get at the bottom of a crime. Being that this is the development team who was also responsible for bringing out the Yakuza series, you can expect a similar combat system.

Similar to the Yakuza franchise, this game will also take place in an open world environment as you dig into the mystery while fighting off any thugs that get in your way. We only saw a few trailers regarding the game and it doesn’t have a specific release date attached quite yet. As a result, we’re not entirely sure just how large of a world players will be able to explore within.
